Why a jacket is washed after it is made
A washed jacket has been through a wet process after make-up, not before it. Because the garment is washed in its finished form, the seams, hems and edges shrink and pucker together, and the fabric surface relaxes — which is what produces the broken-in hand and the soft, slightly irregular edges that buyers recognise as “washed”. Washing also takes the shine off a new fabric and stabilises shrinkage before the garment reaches the customer, so the size the buyer approves is the size that ships.

We do not publish figures we cannot stand behind. Wash results move with the fabric lot, so the shade is agreed against an approved sample rather than from a number. Agreed per order: fabric and wash recipe, number of wash cycles, target shade and degree of distress, artwork treatment, full size range and measurement chart, bulk lead time, and packaging.

What does garment-washed mean?
It means the jacket was washed after it was sewn together, not just washed as fabric beforehand. That relaxes the seams, removes the shine of new cloth and settles shrinkage before the garment ships.
Will the colour be exactly the same from order to order?
Washing shifts shade slightly with each fabric lot. We control it by approving a wash sample before bulk, and by matching to that approved sample rather than to a numeric shade.
Can you wash printed or embroidered artwork?
Yes. Artwork can be applied before washing so that it fades with the garment. This is what we mean by washed artwork, and it is used on front logos and sleeve detail.
Which fabrics can be washed?
100% cotton and cotton-rich wovens are the standard. Print fabrics such as camouflage are washed after printing for a faded print effect.
Is a washed jacket suitable for OEM and private label?
Yes. Washed jackets are core made-to-order styles and are produced under your own label with your own trims and packaging.
