What is a bomber jacket?
A bomber jacket is a short, waist-length jacket with a zip front, knit rib at the collar, cuffs and hem, and — on the MA-1 pattern that most of the market means by “bomber” — a utility pocket on the left sleeve and a water-resistant shell. The rib trim is what keeps the shape: it draws the hem in, so the body stays boxy above the hip while the waist is sealed against the wind. That combination is why the style has survived from flight kit to streetwear without being redesigned.
