SAZ Atelier manufactures wholesale shackets — the shirt-jacket cut that sits between a heavy shirt and a light jacket, produced in 100% cotton, suede-effect fabric, corduroy and quilted constructions. Our minimum order is 100 pieces per style, with your own labels, fabrics and colourways, and a sample ready in about one week. This guide covers what actually makes a shacket, the fabrics and constructions we run, our reference styles, and how to brief a factory for a private-label programme.
What makes a shacket?
A shacket is a shirt cut executed at jacket weight. The pattern is a shirt — collar, button front, shirt-style cuffs — but the cloth is heavy enough to wear as outerwear, and the body is cut slightly boxier than a shirt so it layers over a tee or knit without straining at the buttons. That is the whole idea: it takes the details people already trust from a shirt and gives them the substance of a jacket. Two construction choices decide how a shacket reads on the shelf: the collar (turn-down, corduroy or suede) and the weight of the pockets.
- Shirt pattern at jacket weight — collar, button front, shirt cuffs.
- Boxier body than a shirt, often with dropped shoulders.
- Deep patch or flap pockets that can carry real weight.
- Collar variety — turn-down, corduroy or suede.
- Optional closure — a zip hidden behind the button front.
- Inside zip pocket on most of our styles.

We do not publish figures we cannot stand behind. Ask us for the current spec sheet for any style.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order quantity for wholesale shackets?
Our minimum is 100 pieces per style, applied per style rather than per order.
What is the difference between a shacket and an overshirt?
They are two names for the same idea: a shirt pattern produced at jacket weight. In the trade a shacket usually implies the heavier, boxier end of that range, while overshirt is used for the lighter versions. We produce both.
Which fabrics do you use for shackets?
100% cotton is the core fabric, with suede-effect fabric for statement styles, corduroy collars and quilted linings where extra warmth is needed.
Can a shacket be warm enough for winter?
Quilted and ultrasonic-quilted versions carry a lining and add warmth without changing the shirt silhouette. For deep winter, a shacket works as a layer under a coat rather than as the outer layer.
Can I add a zip to the front?
Yes. A zip can be set behind the button front, or used as a double closure alongside the buttons, as on our raw-edge overshirt.
Is a shacket suitable for OEM and private label?
Yes. Shackets and overshirts are core made-to-order styles and are produced under your own label with your own trims and packaging.
